How it works

Is this car a good deal?

Value Check compares the asking price with what similar cars of the same model are worth, adjusted for mileage. You get a price to aim for, a price range, how many similar cars it used, a Deal Score out of 10, and one of five results. The score grades the listing as a deal, not the car. A great car at the wrong price still scores low.

What each result means
ResultAsking price vs. our estimateWhat it means
Buy7% to 18% belowThe price is below the expected market range for this spec. If the title, history, and inspection look clean, this is worth a closer look.
FairLess than 7% below, up to 4% aboveThe price sits inside the expected range. Let the car's condition, records, and fees guide the conversation.
StretchMore than 4%, up to 16% aboveThe price is near the top of the fair range. It can make sense if the spec, condition, and history give you a clear reason.
WalkMore than 16% aboveThe ask is well above comparable cars. Ask what supports the difference, and be ready to walk if the answer is not in the records.
CheckMore than 18% belowThe price is far below comparable cars. That can be a warning, so verify the title, history, and seller before any deposit.

Worked example: how one listing is graded

Here is the math for one sample listing. These are example numbers, not a live listing or an appraisal.

2020 Lamborghini Huracan Evo
Asking price$229,900 at 14,200 miles
Example starting value$223,000 at 12,000 miles (27 similar cars in this example)
Mileage2,200 miles over typical, at 7.5% of value per 10,000 miles: $3,680 off
Our estimate$219,320, rounded to the nearest $500: $219,500
Price range$209,500 to $231,500
Asking price vs. our estimate4.7% above ($10,400 more)
ResultStretch Deal Score 6.8 out of 10 (more than 4%, up to 16% above)

The price is near the top of the fair range. It can make sense if the spec, condition, and history give you a clear reason.

Common questions

Before you use your estimate.

How do I know if a used exotic car is a good deal?

Start with the gap between the asking price and what similar cars are worth. Then read the history and service records, ask what fees are included, and get a pre-purchase inspection. Value Check does the first step for free and tells you what to check next.

What is my exotic car worth?

Open Value Check and choose “Already own it?” Then enter the car, its mileage, and the price you would consider selling at. You get our estimated market value, a price range, and how many similar cars it used. It is an estimate, not an appraisal.

What is a Deal Score?

A number out of 10 that grades the listing as a deal, not the car. It rises when the price is below our estimate and falls as the price climbs above it. A price far below the estimate also scores low, because it needs checking first.

Why does a very cheap car get Check instead of Buy?

A price more than 18% below our estimate can point to a problem. It may be a branded title, missing history, a costly repair, or a seller who is not who they say. Check means verify those before you pay any deposit.

What if only a few similar cars match?

You still get a number. The price range gets wider when fewer similar cars match, so you can see how firm the estimate is.

Is this an appraisal?

No. Value Check helps you decide what to offer and what to check. This site gives price estimates for car buyers. It is not an appraisal, financial advice, investment advice, or an offer to buy or sell a car.
